The Italian nurseries produce millions of minitrays, (16 hole trays, volume 180cc). The smaller trays, the so called "minitrays" of Mazzoni Nurseries, "optitrays" for Salvi Nurseries are very popular for production of plants of the everbearing varieties. In recent years minitrays of June bearing varieties became also very popular. The higher plant density in the nursery, the lower volume in the cold store and during transport makes this a more economic plant. The success of the Italian minitrays is based on the higher sun radiation from September till November in Italy. Recent developments in the technology resulted in plant yields from minitrays above the yield of traditional trays!
